Property owner Rodney in Ada, MN, called Vita Roofing after repeated leaks began interrupting business operations. The roof had been badly damaged by years of severe weather, and standing water could be seen in multiple areas after every rainstorm. The existing roof system consisted of a loose rock-covered EPDM roof with an older modified bitumen and tar roof hidden underneath. By the time Vita Roofing completed its detailed inspection, it was clear that patching the roof would only be a temporary fix.
The expert crew first removed the heavy layer of rock that covered most of the roof. Once the rock was cleared away, the old EPDM membrane was torn off, followed by the failing modified bitumen and tar roofing beneath it. With the roof opened up, the team discovered extensive structural damage caused by trapped moisture. Vita Roofing made major structural repairs throughout the building, using pressure-treated 2x8, 2x10, and 2x12 lumber to reinforce weakened sections. Areas that could be saved were sistered in and repaired, while severely damaged sections were fully replaced.
The next step was replacing all rotted and moisture-damaged roof decking to create a solid foundation for the new roofing system. Once the new decking was installed, Vita Roofing applied a brand-new EPDM membrane and secured it with bonding adhesive to create a long-lasting seal. Thanks to the complete replacement and structural repairs, this Ada commercial building now has a roof that is stronger, safer, and ready for years of protection.

When Maryanne of West Fargo, ND, noticed issues with her roof, she called Vita Roofing for a free estimate and expert guidance. Our team began by setting up tarps to protect landscaping and contain debris before removing the existing roofing system down to the decking. Once exposed, we carefully inspected the deck and replaced any soft or damaged areas using OSB, CDX, or 1x6 deck boards to ensure a solid, reliable base for the new roof.
Next, we focused on building a high-performance underlayment system designed to handle extreme Midwest weather. Two rows of Sealoron XT Ice and Water Shield were installed along all eaves, with an additional row in the valleys for added protection. All decking seams were sealed with Sealoron XT Deck Tape, followed by Velora One Synthetic Underlayment over the remaining roof surface. Aluminum drip edge was installed along the perimeter and seam-taped at the eaves to direct water safely away from the home.
The final step was installing IKO Dynasty Shingles, a Class 3 impact-rated shingle featuring built-in algae resistance, increased thickness, and upgraded tar and nailing strips for superior wind and impact performance. Starter shingles, venting, penetration flashings, and hip and ridge components were all installed to manufacturer specifications. During the project, we also completed a leak repair by cutting four inches into the siding, installing new step flashing, adding and painting a trim board, and sealing the edge for a clean, watertight finish. After a detailed cleanup, Maryanne was left with a durable, professionally installed roofing system built to last.
When Bonnie reached out to Vita Roofing about her over 100-year-old home in New Rockford, ND, she knew the project would require more than a simple repair; it needed a complete transformation. After a thorough, free, no-obligation estimate, the team recommended a full re-deck and roof replacement to ensure long-term protection. From the very beginning, Vita Roofing approached the job with precision, carefully setting up tarps to protect the surrounding landscaping and structures while preparing for a full tear-off down to the decking.
Once the old materials were removed, the crew conducted a detailed inspection of the decking, replacing any weakened areas to create a solid foundation. They installed Sealoron XT Deck Tape along every seam for added moisture protection, followed by an EPDM membrane system complete with bonding adhesive, screws, plates, and tapered Poly ISO foam for optimal drainage and insulation. The finishing touch was the installation of IKO Dynasty Class 3 shingles in the elegant Biscayne color, featuring impact resistance, algae protection, and enhanced durability through upgraded tar and nailing strips. Backed by the Klaus 50-year No-Leak Warranty, Bonnie can now enjoy peace of mind knowing her historic home is protected for decades to come.
