When a Grand Forks homeowner's aging asphalt roof reached the point of no return, faded, lifted, and stripped of the granule coverage needed for weather resistance, Vita Roofing stepped in with a full system replacement built for the demands of the North Dakota climate. The crew tore off the old material and installed a layered roofing system following the Klaus Roofing Way, Vita's structured approach to ensuring quality at every component of the roof assembly.
The shingle selected was the IKO Dynasty, a Class 3 impact-rated architectural shingle with factory-built algae resistance and an upgraded tar strip that delivers a stronger bond and more reliable wind uplift performance, rated up to 130 MPH. Below the shingles, VeloraONE synthetic underlayment provides a four-layer moisture barrier that outperforms traditional felt in cold-temperature flexibility and tear resistance. SealoronXT Ice & Water Shield in its Extreme Temperature formulation, developed specifically for Klaus Roofing systems, was installed at the eaves, valleys, and penetrations where ice damming and freeze-thaw cycling hit hardest. IKO hip and ridge cap shingles finished the ridgeline, and new chimney flashing was installed to eliminate a common leak point on roofs of this age.
The result is a roofing system that addresses every failure point the old roof had developed and is engineered to perform through the full range of conditions Grand Forks and the Red River Valley throw at a home year after year.
