Sarah had been putting off her roof replacement for years, but after a series of harsh Minnesota winters in Moorhead, the damage became impossible to ignore. When she reached out to Vita Roofing, their trained team didn’t rush into the job, they came out during the winter months to perform a thorough and comprehensive roofing assessment. Snow still covered much of the structure, but their careful inspection identified storm-damaged asphalt shingles, potential weak spots, and areas where moisture might have already started to seep in.
Once the snow melted enough to safely access the roof, the Vita Roofing crew got to work. They began by setting up protective tarps around Sarah’s home to safeguard landscaping and ground structures while containing debris. The team removed the existing roofing system down to the decking, carefully inspecting it for any soft or rotted sections and replacing compromised areas to ensure a solid foundation. From there, they installed two rows of ice and water shield along the eaves and one row in the valleys, critical for preventing ice dam damage in Minnesota’s climate, followed by a full layer of synthetic underlayment for enhanced moisture protection.
To complete the system, aluminum drip edge was installed along the roof perimeter, and starter shingles were applied along all rakes and eaves to ensure proper wind resistance. Finally, Sarah’s home was finished with IKO Dynasty Class-3 asphalt shingles, known for their durability, impact resistance, and ability to withstand severe weather. The result wasn’t just a new roof—it was a long-lasting, high-performance asphalt shingle system designed to protect her home for decades, giving Sarah peace of mind through every season.
Roof inspection
We visited Sarah's home to see ow much storm damage has beat up her roof over the years. We found some soft spots that would suggest decking water damage and a complete replacement of the shingles.
Removing the shingles
Our professional roofing team here at Vita Roofing, started the removal of the old, storm damaged asphalt. We caught a break from mother nature during a normally busy winter season.
Shingles are removed down to the decking
You can see and feel the moisture on the decking. Some small areas of discoloration which could lead to mold damage.
Decking removed
This entire section of roofing needed new decking due to all the water seepage. We used a multi-layer water & ice barrier to avoid situations just like this.
New Asphalt Shingles Installed
IKO Dynasty Shingles have been installed after the synthetic underlayment was layered on.
