The roof on a commercial building in Ada, MN, had been causing problems for years before the owner finally reached out to Vita Roofing. Large areas of water pooling covered the roof after every storm, and severe weather damage had left the aging roof system in terrible shape. The building had an old EPDM roof buried beneath layers of rock, and below that sat a deteriorating modified bitumen and tar roof. After inspecting every section of the building, Vita Roofing recommended a full roof replacement along with major structural repairs.
The roofing team started by removing the rock ballast and tearing off the worn-out EPDM membrane. They then removed the old modified bitumen and tar roof underneath, exposing the decking and structure below. As expected, there was widespread moisture damage hidden beneath the surface. Vita Roofing replaced rotted framing with pressure-treated 2x8, 2x10, and 2x12 structural lumber. The crew also sistered in and repaired framing where possible, ensuring the building had the support it needed before the new roof could be installed.
Once the structure had been reinforced, the crew removed all damaged decking and replaced it with new decking throughout the affected areas. With a solid base in place, Vita Roofing installed a new EPDM membrane roof and used bonding adhesive to secure the system tightly to the building. The completed roof now provides lasting protection, improved drainage, and peace of mind for the commercial property owner in Ada, MN.
